2022 Migration Patterns Study
This visualisation shows cross border migration patterns in the US and Canada in 2022. Each state/province is represented by a hexagonal tile.
I often choose tile maps to represent the US/Canada as many of the more populous states in the North East are geographically small and tend to be difficult to read from a standard geographical map. I find hexagonal tiles work really well – and help preserve the general shape, of the US in particular – but you’ll find examples in my portfolio where I’ve used rectangular tiles.
